Happy New Month! Welcome to March.
If February was about the "Heart" (Relationships), then March is about the "Hand" and the "Head." We are shifting our focus to the engine of success: Consistency, Growth, and Discipline. In 2026, where "viral moments" and "quick hacks" are everywhere, the real competitive advantage belongs to the person who can show up and do the boring work, day after day, with excellence. Today, we kick off our Sunday Serenity by looking at the spiritual foundations of a disciplined life.
Sunday Serenity: The Spiritual Discipline of Focus
It’s Sunday, March 1st. A new month is like a fresh piece of parchment. You have 31 days ahead of you to build something that lasts. But building requires more than just "wanting it"—it requires Focus. In a world designed to distract you, focus is a form of spiritual warfare. It is the act of deciding that what God has called you to do is more important than the "noise" of the world.
1. The Stewardship of Attention
We often talk about the stewardship of money or time, but the most precious resource you have is your Attention. Where your attention goes, your life follows. If your attention is scattered across a hundred different distractions, your growth will be thin and shallow.
The Reflection: Are you giving your "first fruits" (your best energy and focus) to your highest calling, or are you giving God and your goals the "scraps" left over after social media and mindless entertainment? Discipline begins with the decision to guard your gates—what you see, what you hear, and what you dwell on.
2. The Power of the "Small Obedience"
We often wait for a "big moment" to show our discipline. But growth is almost always the result of a thousand small, unseen obediences. It’s the decision to get up when the alarm goes off, to speak kindly when you’re tired, and to finish the task even when it’s no longer "exciting."
The Reflection: Zechariah 4:10 tells us not to "despise the day of small beginnings." Consistency is simply the outward expression of an inward conviction. When you are faithful in the "little things" of March, you are building the "muscle" required for the big breakthroughs of April and beyond.
3. The "Yoke" of Discipline
In our culture, "discipline" sounds like a burden. But in a spiritual sense, discipline is what sets you free. Without discipline, you are a slave to your moods, your appetites, and your impulses.
The Reflection: Jesus invited us to take His "yoke" upon us. A yoke is a tool for work and discipline, but He promised it would be "easy and light" because we aren't pulling the weight alone. When your March goals are aligned with your higher purpose, the discipline doesn't feel like a "grind"—it feels like Grace in Motion.
Your March Kick-Off Audit
As you set the tone for this month, sit with these three prompts:
What is the "One Big Thing" I want to be able to say I accomplished by March 31st?
What is the #1 distraction that stole my consistency in February?
How can I invite a sense of "Holy Focus" into my Monday morning routine?
"No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it." — Hebrews 12:11
Welcome to March. Let's get to work.
Warmly,
Alycia
